Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 3){ يَحْسَبُاَنَّمَالَهٗۤاَخْلَدَهٗ: ’’خَلَدَيَخْلُدُخُلُوْدًا‘‘} (n) To remain forever and {’’أَخْلَدَيُخْلِدُإِخْلَادًا‘‘} (If'al) to make everlasting. {’’ اَخْلَدَهٗ ‘‘} is a past tense verb, therefore the translation of the verse is: "He thinks that his wealth has made him everlasting." His behavior shows that he considers wealth to be a protector from death, because despite being of such an old age, he continues to accumulate wealth, neither fulfilling the rights of Allah nor of His servants. This clearly shows that he thinks this accumulated wealth will not let him die but will keep him alive forever. Otherwise, what is the meaning of accumulating millions and billions of rupees for oneself at the age of sixty or seventy, and constructing strong and lasting buildings that will remain for hundreds of years, except that this wealth and these buildings will keep him alive forever? Hud (peace be upon him) said to his people: « اَتَبْنُوْنَبِكُلِّرِيْعٍاٰيَةًتَعْبَثُوْنَ (128) وَتَتَّخِذُوْنَمَصَانِعَلَعَلَّكُمْتَخْلُدُوْنَ»[ الشعراء : ۱۲۸، ۱۲۹ ] "Do you build a monument on every high place, while you engage in useless work? And do you construct strong buildings, as if you will live forever?"
