Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 1) {وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ:’’ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ‘‘ ’’هَمَزَ يَهْمُزُ هَمْزًا‘‘} (n, d) and {’’لَمَزَ يَلْمُزُ لَمْزًا‘‘} (n, d) are intensive forms, and their meanings are so similar that some have considered them synonymous, while others have differentiated between them. Both terms include the concepts of "gesturing, taunting, and finding faults." Elsewhere it is said: « وَ لَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَّهِيْنٍ (10) هَمَّازٍ مَّشَّآءٍ بِنَمِيْمٍ» [ القلم : 11،10 ] "Do not obey every worthless habitual swearer, who is much given to taunting (or fault-finding), and is ever walking about with slander." And it is said: « وَ لَا تَلْمِزُوْۤا اَنْفُسَكُمْ» [ الحجرات : ۱۱ ] "And do not find faults with one another."
