Verily, those who hope not for their meeting with Us, but are pleased and satisfied with the life of the present world, and those who are heedless of Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.),

(Ayah 8,7) ➊ {اِنَّالَّذِيْنَلَايَرْجُوْنَلِقَآءَنَا …:} After mentioning the Hereafter, in two verses, He mentioned its deniers and then those who believe in it. Four characteristics of the deniers of the Hereafter have been stated. The first characteristic: the word {’’ لَايَرْجُوْنَلِقَآءَنَا ‘‘ ’’رَجَاءٌ‘‘} comes in both the meanings of hope and fear, therefore {’’ لَايَرْجُوْنَ ‘‘} means that they do not hope to meet Allah, nor do they fear Him, nor do they have faith in the resurrection and gathering that will occur in the Hereafter. The second is that they became pleased with the life of this world, and only he becomes pleased with it who becomes completely captive to physical pleasures and desires. The third is that they became content with it; only he becomes content with it who considers it his final refuge. The fortunate ones find contentment in the remembrance of Allah, because their final refuge is only Him; due to the perishable nature of worldly life, they are never content with it.
➋ { وَالَّذِيْنَهُمْعَنْاٰيٰتِنَاغٰفِلُوْنَ:} The fourth is that they do not take any lesson from the countless signs present in the heavens and the earth, nor do they reflect upon them. If by these verses are meant the Qur’anic verses, then the meaning would be that they are heedless of Our commands, neither do they reflect upon them nor do they act upon them. (Ibn Kathir) Their abode, due to their evil deeds, is the Fire.
