Surah Yunus (10) — Ayah 34

The meaning of (Ayah 34){قُلْ هَلْ مِنْ شُرَكَآىِٕكُمْ مَّنْ يَّبْدَؤُا الْخَلْقَ … : ’’ تُؤْفَكُوْنَ ‘‘ ’’اِفْكٌ‘‘} is to turn someone away from something, to remove. That is why lies and slander are also called {’’اِفْكٌ‘‘}, because in them too, the listener is turned away from the real matter. That is, you should ask them: Is there any partner of yours who initiates creation, then brings it back again? Just as Allah created man from clay, then from a drop, then a clot, in short, passing through all the stages, He created him, and in the same way, He initiated the creation of all creatures, and He alone will bring them back again. They will remain silent in response; if there is such a partner, then name him. Now, they cannot name such a partner, because they themselves have admitted that the Creator is Allah alone, nor are they ready to say that none of our partners is like that, because that would expose the reality of their partners and reveal their helplessness, so they will not answer at all. So if they do not answer, then you yourself say that it is only Allah who creates first and will resurrect again. Then, despite this, how can you tolerate that you are turned away from the straight path, that is, monotheism, towards clear misguidance, that is, polytheism, which is pure ifk (falsehood).
