Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

6. It is mentioned in the hadith that the Prophet ﷺ was praying near the Ka'bah. Abu Jahl passed by and said, "O Muhammad! ﷺ Did I not forbid you from praying?" And he spoke to you ﷺ with harsh and threatening words. When you ﷺ gave a firm reply, he said, "O Muhammad! ﷺ What do you threaten me with? By Allah, in this valley, I have the most supporters and the largest assembly." Upon this, this verse was revealed. Hazrat Ibn Abbas ؓ عنھما says, if he had called his supporters, at that very moment the angels of punishment would have seized him. (Tirmidhi, Tafsir Surah Iqra, Musnad Ahmad 329/1 and Tafsir Ibn Jarir) And the words in Sahih Muslim are that he advanced intending to place his foot on your ﷺ neck, but suddenly he retreated backwards and began to shield himself with his hands. He was asked, "What is the matter?" He said, "Between me and Muhammad (ﷺ) there is a trench of fire, a terrifying sight, and many wings." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If he had come near me, the angels would have torn him limb from limb." (کتاب صفۃ القیامۃ، باب ان الأنسان لیطغیٰ) Al-Zabaniyah, wardens and police.
