Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

2. 1. This is a reference to the time when Makkah was conquered; at that time, Allah made fighting lawful for the Prophet ﷺ in this sacred city, even though fighting is not permitted in it. Thus, it is mentioned in the hadith: The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah made this city sacred from the time He created the heavens and the earth. So, by Allah's decree, it will remain sacred until the Day of Judgment. Its trees should not be cut, nor its thorns uprooted. It was made lawful for me only for one hour of one day, and today its sanctity has returned as it was yesterday. If anyone uses my fighting here as a proof for fighting, then say to him that Allah's Messenger was given permission by Allah, whereas you have not been given this permission." (Sahih Bukhari)
