And a declaration from Allâh and His Messenger to mankind on the greatest day (the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah - the 12th month of Islâmic calendar) that Allâh is free from (all) obligations to the Mushrikûn (See V.2:105) and so is His Messenger. So if you (Mushrikûn ) repent, it is better for you, but if you turn away, then know that you cannot escape (from the Punishment of) Allâh. And give tidings (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) of a painful torment to those who disbelieve.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

3. 1. It is established from Sahih ahadith that Yawm al-Hajj al-Akbar refers to the day of (10 Dhul-Hijjah), and on this very day, the proclamation of deliverance was made in Mina. The day of 10 Dhul-Hijjah is called the day of Hajj al-Akbar because on this day the greatest and most important rites of Hajj are performed, and the common people used to call Umrah "Hajj al-Asghar." Therefore, to distinguish it from Umrah, Hajj was called Hajj al-Akbar. The notion that if Hajj falls on a Friday, it is Hajj al-Akbar, which is popular among the public, is baseless.
