2. 1. According to most commentators, this refers to the first ten nights of Dhu al-Hijjah. Their virtue is established from hadith; the Prophet ﷺ said: The righteous deeds performed during the ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah are most beloved to Allah, even more than jihad in the way of Allah, except for that jihad in which a person is martyred. (al-Bukhari, Kitab al-Eidayn, Bab Fadl al-Amal fi Ayyam al-Tashreeq)
