Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
17. 1. That is, the matter is not as people think. Allah gives wealth to His beloved servants as well as to those He dislikes, and He tests both His own and strangers. The real criterion in both situations is obedience to Allah: when Allah gives wealth, one should be grateful to Allah; when hardship comes, one should be patient.
17. 2. The Prophet ﷺ said: The best house is the one in which an orphan is treated well, and the worst house is the one in which he is mistreated. Then, gesturing with his fingers, he said: I and the one who takes care of an orphan will be together in Paradise like these two fingers joined together (Abu Dawood).
