Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

66. 1. The previous command was burdensome for the companions (may Allah be pleased with them), because it meant that one Muslim was sufficient for ten disbelievers, twenty for two hundred, and one hundred for one thousand, and if Muslims had this number compared to the disbelievers, then jihad was obligatory and avoiding it was impermissible. Thus, Allah Almighty granted relief in this matter and reduced the ratio from one to ten to one to two (Sahih Bukhari), Tafsir of Surah Al-Anfal. Now, jihad is necessary at this ratio, and less than this is not necessary.

66. 2. By saying this, the importance of patience and steadfastness was explained, that to attain Allah's help, it is necessary to observe this.
