And He has united their (i.e. believers’) hearts. If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have united their hearts, but Allâh has united them. Certainly He is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
وَأَلَّفَ wa-allafa And He (has) put affection
بَيْنَ bayna between
قُلُوبِهِمْ ۚ qulūbihim their hearts
لَوْ law If

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

63. 1. In these verses, Allah Almighty has mentioned one of the great favors He bestowed upon the Prophet ﷺ and the believers, that is, He helped the Prophet ﷺ through the believers, who became his supporters, protectors, and helpers. He bestowed a favor upon the believers by transforming the enmity that previously existed among them into love and affection. Previously, they were thirsty for each other's blood, but now they became devoted to one another; previously, they were bitter enemies, but now they became compassionate and kind to each other. To end centuries-old mutual enmities in such a way and to create mutual love and affection was a special mercy of Allah Almighty and a manifestation of His power and will. Otherwise, this was such a task that even if all the treasures of the world were spent on it, this precious goal could not have been achieved. Allah Almighty has mentioned this favor in this noble verse: (اِذْ كُنْتُمْ اَعْدَاۗءً فَاَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوْبِكُمْ فَاَصْبَحْتُمْ بِنِعْمَتِھٖٓ اِخْوَانًا) (3:103). The Prophet ﷺ, while addressing the Ansar on the occasion of the spoils of Hunayn, also said, "O group of Ansar! Is it not a fact that you were astray and Allah granted you guidance through me? You were needy and Allah made you prosperous through me, and you were separate from each other and Allah united you through me." Whatever the Prophet ﷺ said, the Ansar would reply, "Allah and His Messenger are more gracious," meaning the favors of Allah and His Messenger are far greater than this." (Sahih Bukhari)
