فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ ﴿42﴾
So leave them to plunge in vain talk and play about, until they meet their Day which they are promised -
فَذَرْهُمْ fadharhum So leave them
يَخُوضُوا۟ yakhūḍū (to) converse vainly
وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ wayalʿabū and amuse themselves
حَتَّىٰ ḥattā until
يُلَـٰقُوا۟ yulāqū they meet
يَوْمَهُمُ yawmahumu their Day
ٱلَّذِى alladhī which
يُوعَدُونَ yūʿadūna they are promised

42. 1. That is, they become entangled in useless and meaningless debates and remain absorbed in their own world; however, you should continue your work of preaching. Their attitude should not make you neglectful of or disheartened from your position.
