Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
70. 1. Blind following of ancestors has always been the foundation of misguidance in every era. The people of 'Ad also presented this very 'argument' and were not willing to abandon shirk and adopt the path of tawheed. Unfortunately, this disease of following one's elders is also common among Muslims.
70. 2. Just as the Quraysh of Makkah, in response to the Messenger of Allah's call to tawheed, also said, "O Allah! If this is the truth from You, then rain down stones upon us from the sky or bring upon us some other painful punishment." That is, in their persistence in shirk, the minds of the polytheists become corrupted. Whereas wisdom demanded that they should have said, "O Allah, if this is true and from You, then grant us the ability to accept it." In any case, the people of 'Ad said to their prophet, Hud (عليه السلام), that if you are truthful, then ask your Allah to send the punishment with which He threatens us.
