قَالَ ٱلْمَلَأُ مِن قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّا لَنَرَىٰكَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ ﴿60﴾
The leaders of his people said: "Verily, we see you in plain error."
قَالَ qāla Said
ٱلْمَلَأُ l-mala-u the chiefs
مِن min of
قَوْمِهِۦٓ qawmihi his people
إِنَّا innā Indeed, we
لَنَرَىٰكَ lanarāka surely see you
فِى in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢ ḍalālin error
مُّبِينٍۢ mubīnin clear

60. 1. Shirk so paralyzes human intellect that a person sees guidance as misguidance and misguidance as guidance. Guidance and misguidance become theoretical. Thus, the same state of heart occurred with the people of Nuh; to them, Hazrat Nuh (AS), who was inviting his people towards the oneness of Allah, appeared—God forbid—as misguided. That which was bad, gradually became good. The conscience of nations turns into slavery.
