Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

49. 1. By this is meant those believers who, in the world, were poor, destitute, and needy, and whom the aforementioned deniers used to mock, saying, "If these were beloved to Allah, would their condition in the world be like this?" Then, with even more audacity, they would claim that on the Day of Resurrection, Allah's mercy would be upon them, not upon these (Ibn Kathir). Some have said that the ones saying this are the Companions of the Heights (Ashab al-A'raf), and others say that when the Companions of the Heights will say to the people of Hell, "Your multitude and your arrogance did not benefit you at all," then at that time, from Allah, it will be said, pointing towards the people of Paradise, "These are the very ones about whom you used to swear that Allah's mercy would not be upon them."
