Surah Al-Qalam (68) — Ayah 32

عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَآ أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِّنْهَآ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَٰغِبُونَ ﴿32﴾
We hope that our Lord will give us in exchange a better (garden) than this. Truly, we turn to our Lord (wishing for good that He may forgive our sins and reward us in the Hereafter).
عَسَىٰ ʿasā Perhaps
رَبُّنَآ rabbunā our Lord
أَن an [that]
يُبْدِلَنَا yub'dilanā will substitute for us
خَيْرًۭا khayran a better
مِّنْهَآ min'hā than it
إِنَّآ innā Indeed, we
إِلَىٰ ilā to
رَبِّنَا rabbinā our Lord
رَٰغِبُونَ rāghibūna turn devoutly

32. 1. They say that they made a pact among themselves that if Allah gave them wealth, they would, like their father, fulfill the rights of the poor and needy from it. Therefore, along with regret and repentance, they also attached hopes to their Lord.
