And (remember) when the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his wives (Hafsah), then she told it (to another i.e. ‘Âishah). And Allâh made it known to him; he informed part thereof and left a part. Then when he told her (Hafsah) thereof, she said: "Who told you this?" He said: "The All-Knower, the All-Aware (Allâh) has told me."

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

3. 1 That hidden matter was the statement regarding making honey or Mariyah forbidden, which you ﷺ had made to Hafsah.
3. 2 That is, Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) went and told that matter to Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her).
3. 3 That is, He informed Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) that you have disclosed my secret. However, out of regard for His own honor and greatness, He refrained from disclosing the entire matter.
3. 4 When the Prophet ﷺ informed Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) that you have revealed my secret, she was astonished because she had not told anyone except Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and she did not expect that Aishah would inform you, since she was also involved in the matter.
3. 5 From this, it is understood that revelation would descend upon him ﷺ besides the Quran as well.
