Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

2. 1. That is, after paying the expiation, permission has been granted to do the act which one had sworn not to do. The expiation for an oath is mentioned in Surah Ma'idah, 89. Thus, the Prophet ﷺ also paid the expiation (Fath al-Qadeer). There is a difference of opinion among the scholars regarding the ruling if a person declares something unlawful upon himself. According to the majority of scholars, declaring anything other than one's wife unlawful does not make that thing unlawful, nor is expiation required for it. If a person declares his wife unlawful upon himself, then if his intention is divorce, divorce will take place; and if he does not intend divorce, then according to the preferred opinion, this is considered an oath, and paying the expiation is necessary for it. (Aysar al-Tafasir).
