رَّسُولًا يَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْكُمْ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ مُبَيِّنَـٰتٍ لِّيُخْرِجَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ مِنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ ۚ وَمَن يُؤْمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ وَيَعْمَلْ صَـٰلِحًا يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ۖ قَدْ أَحْسَنَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُۥ رِزْقًا ﴿11﴾
(And has also sent to you) a Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), who recites to you the Verses of Allâh (the Qur’ân) containing clear explanations, that He may take out those who believe and do righteous good deeds, from the darkness (of polytheism and disbelief) to the light (of Islamic Monotheism). And whosoever believes in Allâh and performs righteous good deeds, He will admit him into Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise) to dwell therein forever. Allâh has indeed granted for him an excellent provision.
رَّسُولًۭا rasūlan A Messenger
يَتْلُوا۟ yatlū reciting
عَلَيْكُمْ ʿalaykum to you
ءَايَـٰتِ āyāti (the) Verses
ٱللَّهِ l-lahi (of) Allah
مُبَيِّنَـٰتٍۢ mubayyinātin clear
لِّيُخْرِجَ liyukh'rija that he may bring out
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who
ءَامَنُوا۟ āmanū believe
وَعَمِلُوا۟ waʿamilū and do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ l-ṣāliḥāti righteous deeds
مِنَ mina from
ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ l-ẓulumāti the darkness[es]
إِلَى ilā towards
ٱلنُّورِ ۚ l-nūri the light
وَمَن waman And whoever
يُؤْمِنۢ yu'min believes
بِٱللَّهِ bil-lahi in Allah
وَيَعْمَلْ wayaʿmal and does
صَـٰلِحًۭا ṣāliḥan righteous deeds
يُدْخِلْهُ yud'khil'hu He will admit him
جَنَّـٰتٍۢ jannātin (into) Gardens
تَجْرِى tajrī flow
مِن min from
تَحْتِهَا taḥtihā underneath it
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ l-anhāru the rivers
خَـٰلِدِينَ khālidīna abiding
فِيهَآ fīhā therein
أَبَدًۭا ۖ abadan forever
قَدْ qad Indeed
أَحْسَنَ aḥsana Has been (granted) good
ٱللَّهُ l-lahu (by) Allah
لَهُۥ lahu for him
رِزْقًا riz'qan provision

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. 11. 1 The Messenger is in apposition to "reminder" (dhikr), as an exaggeration, the Messenger is described as "reminder," just as it is said, "He is the embodiment of justice." Or, by "reminder" is meant the Quran, and before "a Messenger" (رسولاً), "We sent" (أَرْسَلْنَا) is omitted, meaning: the reminder (Quran) was revealed and the Messenger was sent.

11. 2 This describes the Messenger's position and duty: that through the Quran, he brings people out from moral decline and from the darkness of polytheism and misguidance into the light of faith and righteous deeds. Here, the word 'Messenger' refers to The Messenger (Ar-Rasul), that is, Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

11. 3 Righteous deeds include both fulfilling commands and obligations, and avoiding sins and prohibitions. The meaning is that only those believers will enter Paradise who did not merely profess faith with their tongues, but who, according to the requirements of faith, acted upon the obligations and avoided sins.
