(And remember) the Day when He will gather you (all) on the Day of Gathering, - that will be the Day of mutual loss and gain (i.e. loss for the disbelievers as they will enter the Hell-fire and gain for the believers as they will enter Paradise). And whosoever believes in Allâh and performs righteous good deeds, He will expiate from him his sins, and will admit him to Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise) to dwell therein forever; that will be the great success.

9. 1. The Day of Judgment is called Yawm al-Jam‘ because on that day, all the first and the last will be gathered together in the same plain. Everyone will hear the voice of the angel, and each person's sight will reach to the end, because nothing will be obstructing in between.

9. 2. That is, one group will be victorious and one will be defeated; the people of truth over the people of the esoteric, the believers over the disbelievers, and the obedient over the disobedient will be victorious. The greatest victory for the believers will be that they will enter Paradise, and the greatest loss will be for the people of Hell, who will enter Hell.
