رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا رَبَّنَآ ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ﴿5﴾
"Our Lord! Make us not a trial for the disbelievers, and forgive us, Our Lord! Verily, You, only You, are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise."
رَبَّنَا rabbanā Our Lord

تَجْعَلْنَا tajʿalnā make us
فِتْنَةًۭ fit'natan a trial
لِّلَّذِينَ lilladhīna for those who
كَفَرُوا۟ kafarū disbelieve
وَٱغْفِرْ wa-igh'fir and forgive

رَبَّنَآ ۖ rabbanā our Lord
إِنَّكَ innaka Indeed You
أَنتَ anta [You]
ٱلْعَزِيزُ l-ʿazīzu (are) the All-Mighty

5. 1. That is, do not grant dominance and authority to the disbelievers over us, in such a way that they think they are upon the truth, and thus we become a cause of trial for them. Or it means, do not subject us to any punishment at their hands or from Yourself, for in this way too, our existence would become a trial for them; they would say, if these people were upon the truth, why would such hardship befall them?
