Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

96. 1. He is also the Creator of darkness and light. He brings forth the bright morning from the darkness of night, by which everything becomes illuminated.
96. 2. That is, He turns the night into darkness so that people may leave all activities of light and rest.
96. 3. That is, a fixed calculation is decreed for both, in which there is no change or disturbance; rather, both have their own stages, upon which they continue in heat and cold. On this basis, in winter the days are short and the nights are long, and in summer, conversely, the days are long and the nights are short. The details of this are also mentioned in Surah Yunus: 5, Surah Yaseen: 40, and Surah A'raf: 54.
