Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

87. 1. By "آبا" are meant the ancestors as the roots, and by "ذریات" are meant the descendants as the branches. That is, from among these roots and branches and brothers, We have granted many the rank of guidance. The meaning of آجتِیْبِآءُ is to select and to count among one's special servants and to join them with oneself. It is derived from جَبِبْتُ المَآ ءَ فِی الحَوضِ (I have filled the cistern with water). Thus, to join among one's special servants. "اصطفاء" (Istifa), "تخلیص" (purification), and "اختیار" (selection) are also used in this sense. Its object is "مصطفیٰ", "مجتبی", "مخلص", and "مختار" (Fath al-Qadeer).
