And We bestowed upon him Ishâq (Isaac) and Ya‘qûb (Jacob), each of them We guided, and before him, We guided Nûh (Noah), and among his progeny Dâwûd (David), Sulaimân (Solomon), Ayyûb (Job), Yûsuf (Joseph), Mûsâ (Moses), and Hârûn (Aaron). Thus do We reward Al-Muhsinûn (the good-doers - see the footnote of V.9: 120).

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. 84. 1. That is, in old age, when they had become hopeless of having children, as mentioned in Surah Hud, verses 72 and 73. Then, along with the son, the glad tidings of such a grandson were also given, who would be Yaqub (عليه السلام), which includes the meaning that after him, the lineage will continue. That is why it is derived from "عقب" (from behind).
84. 2. In "ذريته", some commentators have considered the pronoun to refer to Hazrat Nuh (عليه السلام) because he is closer, meaning that Dawud and Sulaiman (عليهما السلام) are from the descendants of Hazrat Nuh (عليه السلام). Others have considered it to refer to Hazrat Ibrahim (عليه السلام) because the entire discussion is about him. But in this case, the problem arises that then Lut (عليه السلام) should not have been mentioned in this list, because he is not from the descendants of Ibrahim (عليه السلام); he is the son of his brother Haran bin Azar, that is, the nephew of Ibrahim (عليه السلام), and Ibrahim (عليه السلام) is not the father but the uncle of Lut (عليه السلام). However, by way of predominance, he has also been counted among the descendants of Ibrahim (عليه السلام). Another example of this is in the Quran, where Hazrat Ismail (عليه السلام) has been counted among the ancestors of the children of Yaqub (عليه السلام), even though he was their uncle.
