Surah Al-An'aam (6) — Ayah 79

إِنِّى وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِىَ لِلَّذِى فَطَرَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ حَنِيفًا ۖ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ ﴿79﴾
Verily, I have turned my face towards Him Who has created the heavens and the earth Hanîfa (Islâmic Monotheism, i.e. worshipping none but Allâh Alone), and I am not of Al-Mushrikûn (See V.2:105)".
إِنِّى innī Indeed, I
وَجَّهْتُ wajjahtu [I] have turned
وَجْهِىَ wajhiya my face
لِلَّذِى lilladhī to the One Who
فَطَرَ faṭara created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ wal-arḍa and the earth
حَنِيفًۭا ۖ ḥanīfan (as) a true monotheist
وَمَآ wamā and not
أَنَا۠ anā I (am)
مِنَ mina of
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ l-mush'rikīna the polytheists

79. 1. The mention of the face is because a person's true identity is recognized by the face; by this is meant the person himself. The meaning is that the purpose of my worship and monotheism is Allah عزوجل, who is the Creator of the heavens and the earth.
