Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

60. 1 Here, sleep is described as "wafaat" (death), which is why it is called the minor death (wafaat asghar) and actual death is called the major death (wafaat akbar). (For explanation of wafaat, see the footnote of (Aal-e-Imran, verse 55)).
60. 2 That is, during the day, the soul is returned and the person is brought back to life.
60. 3 That is, this cycle of night and day, and the routine of experiencing the minor death and then rising again during the day, will continue until the major death of a person.
61. 4 That is, then on the Day of Resurrection, everyone will be brought back to life and presented before Allah.
