Surah Al-An'aam (6) — Ayah 154

ثُمَّ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ تَمَامًا عَلَى ٱلَّذِىٓ أَحْسَنَ وَتَفْصِيلًا لِّكُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لَّعَلَّهُم بِلِقَآءِ رَبِّهِمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿154﴾
Then, We gave Mûsâ (Moses) the Book [the Taurât (Torah)] to complete (Our Favour) upon those who would do right, and explaining all things in detail and a guidance and a mercy that they might believe in the meeting with their Lord.
ثُمَّ thumma Moreover
ءَاتَيْنَا ātaynā We gave
مُوسَى mūsā Musa
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ l-kitāba the Book
تَمَامًا tamāman completing (Our Favor)
عَلَى ʿalā on
ٱلَّذِىٓ alladhī the one who
أَحْسَنَ aḥsana did good
وَتَفْصِيلًۭا watafṣīlan and an explanation
لِّكُلِّ likulli of every
شَىْءٍۢ shayin thing
وَهُدًۭى wahudan and a guidance
وَرَحْمَةًۭ waraḥmatan and mercy
لَّعَلَّهُم laʿallahum so that they may
بِلِقَآءِ biliqāi in (the) meeting
رَبِّهِمْ rabbihim (with) their Lord
يُؤْمِنُونَ yu'minūna believe

154. 1 It is the style of the Noble Quran, which is repeated in several places, that wherever the Quran is mentioned, the Torah is also mentioned, and wherever the Torah is mentioned, the Quran is also mentioned. Several examples of this have been cited by Hafiz Ibn Kathir. According to this style, here is the mention of the Torah and its description, that it too was a comprehensive book of its time in which all matters of their religious needs were explained in detail, and it was a source of guidance and mercy.
