Surah Al-An'aam (6) — Ayah 131

ذَٰلِكَ أَن لَّمْ يَكُن رَّبُّكَ مُهْلِكَ ٱلْقُرَىٰ بِظُلْمٍ وَأَهْلُهَا غَـٰفِلُونَ ﴿131﴾
This is because your Lord would not destroy the (populations of) towns for their wrong-doing (i.e. associating others in worship along with Allâh) while their people were unaware (so the Messengers were sent).
ذَٰلِكَ dhālika That (is because)
أَن an [that]
لَّمْ lam not
يَكُن yakun is
رَّبُّكَ rabbuka your Lord
مُهْلِكَ muh'lika one who destroys
ٱلْقُرَىٰ l-qurā the cities
بِظُلْمٍۢ biẓul'min for (their) wrongdoing
وَأَهْلُهَا wa-ahluhā while their people
غَـٰفِلُونَ ghāfilūna (are) unaware

131. 1. That is, He does not destroy (a people) until He establishes His proof through the messengers, as this same point has been mentioned in Surah Fatir, verse 42; Surah Nahl 62; Surah Bani Isra'il 15; and Surah Mulk 8, 9, etc.
