Surah Al-Hashr (59) — Ayah 19

وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ نَسُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ ﴿19﴾
And be not like those who forgot Allâh (i.e. became disobedient to Allâh), and He caused them to forget their ownselves, (let them to forget to do righteous deeds). Those are the Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh).
وَلَا walā And (do) not
تَكُونُوا۟ takūnū be
كَٱلَّذِينَ ka-alladhīna like those who
نَسُوا۟ nasū forgot
ٱللَّهَ l-laha Allah
فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ fa-ansāhum so He made them forget
أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ anfusahum themselves
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ulāika Those
هُمُ humu [they]
ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ l-fāsiqūna (are) the defiantly disobedient

19. 1. That is, as a recompense, Allah made them so that they became heedless of those actions which were beneficial for them and through which they could have saved themselves from the punishment of Allah. In this way, a person, from forgetting God, reaches the point of forgetting himself.
