وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ ﴿85﴾
But We (i.e. Our angels who take the soul) are nearer to him than you, but you see not, (Tafsir At-Tabarî)
وَنَحْنُ wanaḥnu And We
أَقْرَبُ aqrabu (are) nearer
إِلَيْهِ ilayhi to him
مِنكُمْ minkum than you
وَلَـٰكِن walākin but
لَّا you (do) not see
تُبْصِرُونَ tub'ṣirūna you (do) not see

85-1 That is, We are closer to the dying person than you are. In terms of Our knowledge and power. Or by "We" is meant Allah's agents, that is, the angels of death who seize his soul.
