لَّا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ ﴿44﴾
(That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) pleasant,
لَّا Not
بَارِدٍۢ bāridin cool
وَلَا walā and not
كَرِيمٍ karīmin pleasant

44-1. That is, shade is cool, but what they will think is shade, will not be a cool shade; it will actually be the smoke of Hell, in which there is no beautiful scene or goodness. Nor is there any sweetness.
