Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

6. 1. The meaning of مسجور is blazing. Some say, by this is meant the water that is beneath the Throne, from which rain will descend on the Day of Resurrection, and by it the dead bodies will be brought to life. Some say it refers to the seas, in which fire will blaze on the Day of Resurrection. As it is said: واذا البحار سجرت and when the seas are set ablaze. Imam Shawkani has considered this meaning to be preferable, and some have taken the meaning of مسجور as filled, that is, at present there is no fire in the seas, but they are filled with water. Imam Tabari has chosen this view. There are also several other meanings that have been mentioned. (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
