أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ ﴿40﴾
Or is it that you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) ask a wage from them (for your preaching of Islâmic Monotheism) so that they are burdened with a load of debt?
أَمْ am Or
تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ tasaluhum (do) you ask from them
أَجْرًۭا ajran a payment
فَهُم fahum so they
مِّن min from
مَّغْرَمٍۢ maghramin a debt
مُّثْقَلُونَ muth'qalūna (are) overburdened
