أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ ﴿37﴾
Or are with them the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the tyrants with the authority to do as they like?

37. 1 That they may give provision to whom they will, or withhold from whom they will, or bestow prophethood upon whom they will.

37. 2 "Musaytir" or "Musaytar" is from سَطْر, meaning "the one who writes," that is, a protector and overseer. Since he writes all the details, it is also used in the sense of protector and overseer. That is, do they have control over Allah's treasures or His mercies, that they may give to whom they will or withhold from whom they will?
