Surah Al-Maaida (5) — Ayah 43

وَكَيْفَ يُحَكِّمُونَكَ وَعِندَهُمُ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ فِيهَا حُكْمُ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّوْنَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ ۚ وَمَآ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿43﴾
But how do they come to you for decision while they have the Taurât (Torah), in which is the (plain) Decision of Allâh; yet even after that, they turn away. For they are not (really) believers.
وَكَيْفَ wakayfa But how can
يُحَكِّمُونَكَ yuḥakkimūnaka they appoint you a judge
وَعِندَهُمُ waʿindahumu while they (have) with them
ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ l-tawrātu the Taurat
فِيهَا fīhā in it
حُكْمُ ḥuk'mu (is the) Command
ٱللَّهِ l-lahi (of) Allah
ثُمَّ thumma Then
يَتَوَلَّوْنَ yatawallawna they turn away
مِنۢ min from
بَعْدِ baʿdi after
ذَٰلِكَ ۚ dhālika that
وَمَآ wamā and not
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ulāika those
بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ bil-mu'minīna (are) the believers
