Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

35. 1. The meaning of waseelah is such a thing that becomes a means for attaining an objective or for drawing near to it. The meaning of 'seek waseelah to Allah' will be to adopt such deeds through which you may attain Allah's pleasure and His nearness. Imam Shawkani states, 'Waseelah, in the sense of nearness, applies to piety and other good qualities through which servants attain nearness to their Lord. Similarly, refraining from those things which have been prohibited is also a waseelah for nearness to Allah. However, in hadith, that Maqam Mahmood (the praised station) has also been called waseelah, which will be granted to the Prophet in Paradise. That is why he said, whoever after the adhan supplicates for waseelah for me, he will become deserving of my intercession. (Sahih Bukhari)
