سُوْرَةُ مُحَمَّدٍ
Surah Muhammad (47) — Ayah 27
فَكَيْفَ إِذَا تَوَفَّتْهُمُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَـٰرَهُمْ ﴿27﴾

Then how (will it be) when the angels will take their souls at death, smiting their faces and their backs?

27. 1. This describes the state of the disbelievers at the time when the angels seize their souls. The souls hide inside the body and run here and there to escape from the angels, so the angels seize them forcefully, pull them, and strike them. This subject has also been mentioned earlier in (وَمَنْ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرٰي عَلَي اللّٰهِ كَذِبًا اَوْ قَالَ اُوْحِيَ اِلَيَّ وَلَمْ يُوْحَ اِلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ وَّمَنْ قَالَ سَاُنْزِلُ مِثْلَ مَآ اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ ۭ وَلَوْ تَرٰٓي اِذِ الظّٰلِمُوْنَ فِيْ غَمَرٰتِ الْمَوْتِ وَالْمَلٰۗىِٕكَةُ بَاسِطُوْٓا اَيْدِيْهِمْ ۚ اَخْرِجُوْٓا اَنْفُسَكُمْ ۭ اَلْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ عَذَابَ الْهُوْنِ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَقُوْلُوْنَ عَلَي اللّٰهِ غَيْرَ الْحَقِّ وَكُنْتُمْ عَنْ اٰيٰتِهٖ تَسْتَكْبِرُوْنَ) 6. Al-An'am: 93) and (وَلَوْ تَرٰٓي اِذْ يَتَوَفَّى الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا ۙ الْمَلٰۗىِٕكَةُ يَضْرِبُوْنَ وُجُوْهَهُمْ وَاَدْبَارَهُمْ ۚ وَذُوْقُوْا عَذَابَ الْحَرِيْقِ) 8. Al-Anfal: 50).
