سُوْرَةُ مُحَمَّدٍ
Surah Muhammad (47) — Ayah 26
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ كَرِهُوا۟ مَا نَزَّلَ ٱللَّهُ سَنُطِيعُكُمْ فِى بَعْضِ ٱلْأَمْرِ ۖ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِسْرَارَهُمْ ﴿26﴾
Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
This is because they said to those who hate what Allâh has sent down: "We will obey you in part of the matter." But Allâh knows their secrets.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. 26. 1. By "this" is meant their becoming apostates.
26. 2. That is, the hypocrites said to the polytheists or to the Jews.
26. 3. That is, in opposition to the Prophet ﷺ and the religion brought by him ﷺ.
26. 4. As stated elsewhere: (ۭ وَاللّٰهُ يَكْتُبُ مَا يُبَيِّتُوْنَ) 4. An-Nisa:81).
