Surah Al-Jaathiya (45) — Ayah 8

يَسْمَعُ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يُصِرُّ مُسْتَكْبِرًا كَأَن لَّمْ يَسْمَعْهَا ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ﴿8﴾
Who hears the Verses of Allâh (being) recited to him, yet persists with pride as if he heard them not. So announce to him a painful torment!
يَسْمَعُ yasmaʿu Who hears
ءَايَـٰتِ āyāti (the) Verses
ٱللَّهِ l-lahi (of) Allah
تُتْلَىٰ tut'lā recited
عَلَيْهِ ʿalayhi to him
ثُمَّ thumma then
يُصِرُّ yuṣirru persists
مُسْتَكْبِرًۭا mus'takbiran arrogantly
كَأَن ka-an as if
لَّمْ lam not
يَسْمَعْهَا ۖ yasmaʿhā he heard them
فَبَشِّرْهُ fabashir'hu So give him tidings
بِعَذَابٍ biʿadhābin (of) a punishment
أَلِيمٍۢ alīmin painful
