Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
9. 1. In the Noble Quran, it is mentioned at several places that Allah created the heavens and the earth in six days; here, some details are explained. It is stated that the earth was made in two days, which refers to Yawm al-Ahad (Sunday) and Yawm al-Ithnayn (Monday). In Surah Naziaat, it is said: والارض بعد ذلک دحہا, which apparently suggests that the earth was made after the heavens, whereas here the creation of the earth is mentioned before the creation of the heavens. Hazrat Ibn Abbas ؓ has clarified this by saying that creation is one thing and دحی, which is originally دحو, meaning to spread or lay out, is another thing. The creation of the earth occurred before the heavens, as mentioned here, and دحو means that to make the earth suitable for habitation, reservoirs of water were placed in it, and it was made a storehouse for productive necessities. (اَخْرَجَمِنْهَامَاۗءَهَاوَمَرْعٰىهَا) 79. An-Nazi'at:31) In it, mountains, hills, and minerals were placed; this process was done in the two days after the creation of the heavens. Thus, the creation of the earth and its related elements was completed in a total of four days. (Sahih Bukhari, Tafsir Surah Ha-Meem As-Sajdah
