Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
42. 1. That is, it is protected in every way; "from before" means deficiency, and "from behind" means addition—that is, falsehood can neither come from before it to cause deficiency, nor from behind it to cause addition, nor can anyone succeed in making any alteration or distortion in it. Because it is revealed by Him who is Wise in His words and deeds, and Hamid, that is, Praiseworthy. Or, the things He commands and the things He forbids, in terms of consequences and ultimate ends, all are praiseworthy, that is, good and beneficial. (Ibn Kathir)
