Surah Ghafir (40) — Ayah 52

يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ ۖ وَلَهُمُ ٱللَّعْنَةُ وَلَهُمْ سُوٓءُ ٱلدَّارِ ﴿52﴾
The Day when their excuses will be of no profit to Zâlimûn (polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh). Theirs will be the curse, and theirs will be the evil abode (i.e. painful torment in Hell-fire).
يَوْمَ yawma (The) Day

يَنفَعُ yanfaʿu will benefit
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ l-ẓālimīna the wrongdoers
مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ ۖ maʿdhiratuhum their excuse
وَلَهُمُ walahumu and for them
ٱللَّعْنَةُ l-laʿnatu (is) the curse
وَلَهُمْ walahum and for them
سُوٓءُ sūu (is the) worst
ٱلدَّارِ l-dāri home

52. 1. That is, being distant from Allah's mercy and accursed. And the excuse will not be of benefit because this is not the place for excuses, therefore this excuse will be a false excuse.
