تَدْعُونَنِى لِأَكْفُرَ بِٱللَّهِ وَأُشْرِكَ بِهِۦ مَا لَيْسَ لِى بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ وَأَنَا۠ أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْغَفَّـٰرِ ﴿42﴾
"You invite me to disbelieve in Allâh (and in His Oneness), and to join partners in worship with Him of which I have no knowledge; and I invite you to the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving!
تَدْعُونَنِى tadʿūnanī You call me
لِأَكْفُرَ li-akfura that I disbelieve
بِٱللَّهِ bil-lahi in Allah
وَأُشْرِكَ wa-ush'rika and (to) associate
بِهِۦ bihi with Him
مَا what
لَيْسَ laysa not
لِى for me
بِهِۦ bihi of it
عِلْمٌۭ ʿil'mun any knowledge
وَأَنَا۠ wa-anā and I
أَدْعُوكُمْ adʿūkum call you
إِلَى ilā to
ٱلْعَزِيزِ l-ʿazīzi the All-Mighty
ٱلْغَفَّـٰرِ l-ghafāri the Oft-Forgiving

42. 1. The Mighty, the Dominant, who is capable of taking revenge on the disbelievers and punishing them; the Forgiving, who pardons the mistakes and shortcomings of His followers and conceals them. Whereas those whom you are calling me to worship are utterly insignificant and inferior things; they can neither hear nor respond, nor are they capable of bringing benefit to anyone or causing harm.
