Surah An-Nisaa (4) — Ayah 76

ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يُقَـٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُقَـٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتِ فَقَـٰتِلُوٓا۟ أَوْلِيَآءَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۖ إِنَّ كَيْدَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ كَانَ ضَعِيفًا ﴿76﴾
Those who believe, fight in the Cause of Allâh, and those who disbelieve, fight in the cause of Tâghût (Satan). So fight you against the friends of Shaitân (Satan). Ever feeble indeed is the plot of Shaitân (Satan).
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna Those who
ءَامَنُوا۟ āmanū believe
يُقَـٰتِلُونَ yuqātilūna they fight
فِى in
سَبِيلِ sabīli (the) way
ٱللَّهِ ۖ l-lahi (of) Allah
وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhīna and those
كَفَرُوا۟ kafarū who disbelieve
يُقَـٰتِلُونَ yuqātilūna they fight
فِى in
سَبِيلِ sabīli (the) way
ٱلطَّـٰغُوتِ l-ṭāghūti (of) the false deities
فَقَـٰتِلُوٓا۟ faqātilū So fight (against)
أَوْلِيَآءَ awliyāa (the) friends
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۖ l-shayṭāni (of) the Shaitaan
إِنَّ inna Indeed
كَيْدَ kayda (the) strategy
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ l-shayṭāni (of) the Shaitaan
كَانَ kāna is
ضَعِيفًا ḍaʿīfan weak

76. 1. Both the believer and the disbeliever find themselves in need of wars. But there is a great difference in their objectives for war: the believer fights for Allah, not merely for worldly gain or the desire for conquest. Whereas the disbeliever's objective is this world and its interests.

76. 2. Believers are being encouraged that the tricks and schemes for tyrannical purposes are weak; do not fear the abundance of their apparent means and their large numbers. In comparison to your strength of faith and determination for jihad, these tricks of Satan cannot stand.
