Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
And whoso obey Allâh and the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), then they will be in the company of those on whom Allâh has bestowed His Grace, of the Prophets, the Siddiqûn (those followers of the Prophets who were first and foremost to believe in them, like Abu Bakr As-Siddîq (رضي الله عنه), the martyrs, and the righteous. And how excellent these companions are!

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
69. 1. The reward for obeying Allah and His Messenger ﷺ is being mentioned here, so it is stated in the hadith: A person will be with those whom he loves. Hazrat Anas ؓ says: The companions رضوان اللہ علیھم اجمعین were never as happy as they were upon hearing this statement of the Messenger ﷺ, because they also desired the companionship of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Paradise. In the narrations regarding the reason for revelation, it is mentioned that some companions said to the Prophet ﷺ that Allah will grant you a high rank in Paradise and we will have a lower rank, thus we will be deprived of your company and seeing you, which we have in this world. So Allah revealed this verse to comfort them (Ibn Kathir). Some companions ؓ specifically requested the Prophet ﷺ for companionship in Paradise (As'aluka murafaqataka fil-jannah), upon which the Prophet ﷺ instructed them to perform many voluntary prayers (fa a'inni 'ala nafsika bikathrat as-sujud), so help me by increasing your prostrations. In addition, there is another hadith: (at-tajir as-saduq al-amin ma'an-nabiyyin was-siddiqin wash-shuhada) (Tirmidhi, Book of Trade, Chapter: What has been narrated about traders and the Prophet ﷺ naming them), the honest, trustworthy merchant will be with the Prophets, the Siddiqin, and the martyrs. Siddiqiyyah is the name of perfect faith and perfect obedience; after Prophethood, it is its rank. In the Ummah of Muhammad, Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq ؓ is the most distinguished in this rank, and for this reason, by consensus, among non-Prophets, he is the most virtuous after the Prophet ﷺ. The righteous (salih) is the one who fulfills the rights of Allah and the rights of people completely and does not fall short in them.
