Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

51. 1. In this verse, astonishment is being expressed at another action of the Jews: despite being People of the Book, they believe in (جبت) idols, soothsayers, or magicians (false deities), and consider the disbelievers of Makkah to be more rightly guided than the Muslims. All these aforementioned meanings have been given for جبت. In a hadith it is mentioned: "ان العیافۃ والطرق والطیرۃ من الجبت" — "Taking omens from birds, drawing lines, taking bad omens" — that is, all these are satanic acts, and these things were common among the Jews. One meaning of طاغوت is also given as Satan; in reality, the worship of false deities is actually following Satan. Therefore, Satan is certainly included in the meaning of طاغوت.
