Surah An-Nisaa (4) — Ayah 162

لَّـٰكِنِ ٱلرَّٰسِخُونَ فِى ٱلْعِلْمِ مِنْهُمْ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ ۚ وَٱلْمُقِيمِينَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ ۚ وَٱلْمُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ سَنُؤْتِيهِمْ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا ﴿162﴾
But those among them who are well-grounded in knowledge, and the believers, believe in what has been sent down to you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) and what was sent down before you; and those who perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât ), and give Zakât and believe in Allâh and in the Last Day, it is they to whom We shall give a great reward.
لَّـٰكِنِ lākini But
ٱلرَّٰسِخُونَ l-rāsikhūna the ones who are firm
فِى in
ٱلْعِلْمِ l-ʿil'mi the knowledge
مِنْهُمْ min'hum among them
وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ wal-mu'minūna and the believers
يُؤْمِنُونَ yu'minūna believe
بِمَآ bimā in what
أُنزِلَ unzila (is) revealed
إِلَيْكَ ilayka to you
وَمَآ wamā and what
أُنزِلَ unzila was revealed
مِن min from
قَبْلِكَ ۚ qablika before you
وَٱلْمُقِيمِينَ wal-muqīmīna And the ones who establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ ۚ l-ṣalata the prayer
وَٱلْمُؤْتُونَ wal-mu'tūna and the ones who give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ l-zakata the zakah
وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ wal-mu'minūna and the ones who believe
بِٱللَّهِ bil-lahi in Allah
وَٱلْيَوْمِ wal-yawmi and the Day
ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ l-ākhiri the Last
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ulāika those
سَنُؤْتِيهِمْ sanu'tīhim We will give them
أَجْرًا ajran a reward
عَظِيمًا ʿaẓīman great

162. 1. By these are meant Abdullah bin Salam and others who became Muslim from among the Jews.
162. 2. By these are also meant those believers who became Muslim from among the People of the Book, or it refers to the Muhajirun and Ansar. That is, those who possess firm knowledge of the Shariah and are characterized by perfect faith, they refrain from committing those sins which Allah dislikes.
162. 3. This refers to zakah of wealth, or zakah of the soul, meaning purification and refinement of one's morals and character, or both are intended.
162. 4. That is, they firmly believe that there is no deity except Allah. They also believe in resurrection after death and in reward and punishment for deeds.
