Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan — Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf
Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
158. 1. This is an explicit text regarding the fact that Allah, with His perfect power, raised Isa (peace be upon him) alive to the heavens, and this is also established by numerous authentic (Sahih) hadiths. These hadiths are found not only in all the books of hadith but also in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. In these hadiths, besides the mention of being raised to the heavens, there is also mention of his descent near the Day of Judgment and many other matters. Imam Ibn Kathir, after mentioning all these narrations, writes at the end: Thus, these hadiths are mutawatir from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Among their narrators are Abu Hurairah, Abdullah bin Mas'ud, Uthman bin Abi al-As, Abu Umamah, Nawas bin Sam'an, Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As, Majma' bin Jariyah, Abi Sarihah, and Hudhaifah bin Asid (may Allah be pleased with them). In these hadiths, the description and place of his descent are mentioned: he (peace be upon him) will descend near the eastern minaret in Damascus at the time when the iqamah for Fajr prayer will be given. He will kill the swine, break the cross, abolish the jizyah, during his era all will become Muslims, the killing of Dajjal will also be at his hands, and the emergence and corruption of Gog and Magog will also occur in his presence, and ultimately, by his curse, their destruction will take place.
2. 158. He is Mighty and Dominant; no one can avert His will and decree, and whoever seeks His protection, no harm can reach him. And He is Wise; whatever decision He makes is based on wisdom.
