The Women · Medinan · Juz 5 · Page 100

And it has already been revealed to you in the Book (this Qur’ân) that when you hear the Verses of Allâh being denied and mocked at, then sit not with them, until they engage in a talk other than that; (but if you stayed with them) certainly in that case you would be like them. Surely, Allâh will collect the hypocrites and disbelievers all together in Hell.

Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

140. 1. That is, if despite being forbidden, you sit in such gatherings where the verses of Allah are being mocked and you do not object to it, then you too become equal in sin with them. As it is mentioned in a hadith: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not participate in a gathering where wine is being served." From this, it is understood that participating in such gatherings and assemblies where the commands of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ are mocked verbally or practically—as is commonly done in the circles of today's elites, fashionable, and Westernized groups—is a grave sin. (اِنَّكُمْ اِذًا مِّثْلُھُمْ ۭ) 4:140 The Qur'anic warning in (4:140) is enough to make the believers tremble, provided there is faith in the heart.
