Tafsir Ahsan al-Bayan is a well-known Quran commentary by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. This tafsir explains the meanings of the Quran in accordance with the methodology of the Salaf (early righteous generations), relying on authentic sources and straightforward language. Due to its reliability and adherence to sound Islamic scholarship, the Saudi government publishes and distributes this tafsir among the Hujjaj (pilgrims) visiting the Haramain. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

124. 1. As mentioned earlier, the People of the Book were deeply engrossed in self-delusions. Here, Allah Almighty once again exposes their delusions, stating that success in the Hereafter is not attained merely through hopes and wishes; rather, it requires the capital of faith and righteous deeds. On the contrary, if the record of deeds contains evil actions, then one will inevitably have to bear their punishment; there will be no friend or helper there who can save one from the punishment of evil. In this verse, along with the People of the Book, Allah Almighty also addresses the believers so that they too may protect themselves from the misconceptions, delusions, and wishful thinking devoid of action, as was the case with the Jews and Christians. But unfortunately, despite this warning, Muslims have also become entangled in the same fantasies in which the previous communities were caught. And today, inaction and misconduct have also become the hallmark of Muslims, and despite this, they insist on being called the community shown mercy.
